Biography:
Warner is the senior member of the Ryley Carlock & Applewhite Litigation Practice Group. He has conducted over 100 civil and criminal trials, both before juries and to the court. Examples of his recent litigation involvements include:

  • Defending a major banking institution with respect to a variety of claims under the Uniform Commercial Code, and otherwise.


  • Defending an international manufacturer of plastic containers against claims for reformation of the terms of a multi-year multi-million dollar lease of industrial facilities.


  • Representing a crushed aggregate building material business with respect to claims for quiet title to real property containing millions of dollars of materials, and substantial dollar damages.


  • Representing an individual severely injured in a motor vehicle collision on a city street during heavy construction against the city and several major contractors involved in the construction.


  • Warner has also served as both appellant's counsel and appellee's counsel in dozens of appeals before the state and federal appellate courts, and he is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Warner was selected for the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and Phoenix Magazine's Top Lawyers, and he is rated AV® by Martindale-Hubbell®.

    Warner graduated from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team, and from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1965. During his law school years, Warner served as head freshman basketball coach at the University of Arizona for two years. He was also the color commentator for the radio broadcasts of University of Arizona basketball games. In addition, Warner taught high school social studies during this period of time. He later served as an instructor in Law Enforcement at Glendale Community College for several years.

    Before joining Ryley Carlock & Applewhite in 1975, Warner served as a Deputy County Attorney, First Assistant United States Attorney in charge of the Phoenix office, and as the Attorney General of the State of Arizona.
