John concentrates his practice in estate planning, estate and gift taxation, and trust and estate administration.  He is a frequent lecturer on estate planning, estate administration and charitable giving.

John has been a fellow in the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel since 1979, and is past Arizona State Chairman of the organization.

He joins the firm from Lischer, Batts & Lyons, P.C. in Scottsdale and Sun City, Arizona where he served as Managing shareholder from 1996 until the present.  Prior to starting his own successful practice, John served as an attorney and shareholder at Ryley Carlock & Applewhite from 1970 until 1995.  He managed the firm's offices in Scottsdale and Sun City during many of those years.  With John's rejoining the firm, Ryley Carlock will once again have a presence in Scottsdale and Sun City to serve its clients.

Prior to joining Ryley, Carlock & Applewhite in 1970, John served as a Law Clerk to Justice Loma E. Lockwood of the Arizona Supreme Court (1968 - 1970).
