Tara joined Ryley Carlock & Applewhite as an associate in September of 2003. She practices in the areas of Employee Benefits, Taxation, and Business Law.
Tara's practice includes assisting individuals and employers with the design and administration of qualified employee benefit plans; executive benefits, including compliance for the new non-qualified deferred compensation rules under Section 409A; ERISA and tax compliance; and COBRA compliance. She has guided clients through corrective programs available to benefit plans through the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor's Employee Benefit Security Administration. Tara also assists clients in a variety of business transactions, including entity formation and the representation of purchasers and sellers of companies through both asset and stock purchases and sales.
Tara received her law degree from DePaul University, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She also earned a Certificate in Taxation for completing an intensive tax program that included federal income taxation, corporate taxation, partnership taxation, estate and gift taxation, and employee benefits. Tara participated in DePaul’s Business Law Society and was a Student Advocate for the Law School’s Office of Admissions. She earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for the top performance in Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders, Issues in Health Care Application, and Legal Writing.
Tara also earned her M.B.A. from Grand Canyon University, where she was inducted into Delta Mu Delta, a national honor society in business administration.
Tara received her B.S. in Community Health, emphasizing in Health Administration, from Northern Illinois University. |
