Ryley Carlock & Applewhite Starts Regional Expansion with Denver Office
Ryley Carlock & Applewhite (RCA), one of
Arizona’s oldest and most respected law firms, opened an office in
Denver, Colorado, February 1, 2005, as part of a strategic plan to grow
the firm’s presence and expertise in the Southwestern and Rocky
Mountain regions of the United States. Ten attorneys from two Denver-based firms, Friedlob Sanderson Paulson & Tourtillott and Gorsuch Kirgis, which are in the process of dissolving to allow partners to pursue other opportunities, have joined Ryley Carlock. Ryley Carlock has 58 attorneys in the Phoenix office. "Opening the Denver office made both strategic and tactical sense in the context of our growth plan," said Michael Moberly, Ryley Carlock & Applewhite’s managing partner. "First, we knew the market well because of our ongoing work in Denver. Secondly, the move allowed us to strengthen our natural resources law group by bringing to the firm significant air permit expertise, as well as adding additional depth to our existing expertise in water rights and litigation." Moberly said the Denver office will focus on environment, water law, litigation, real estate, lending and finance. "This is a great fit for all of us considering we have worked with the RCA Phoenix office on multiple projects in the past and have clients with similar needs," said Jim Sanderson, formerly of Friedlob Sanderson Paulson & Tourtillott. "Our platform for operating across the Southwest and Rocky Mountain region just got bigger and better with RCA’s entry into Colorado." "We’re thrilled at this opportunity to join Ryley Carlock & Applewhite’s growing practice in the Rocky Mountain area and the southwestern US," said David Powell, formerly of Gorsuch Kirgis. "Their successful business model creates a solid foundation for expansion across Colorado, as well as throughout the region." Established in 1948, Ryley Carlock & Applewhite’s history is deeply connected with the people who shaped Arizona. A full-service law firm, Ryley Carlock & Applewhite has expertise in environment and natural resources law, employment and labor, corporate and securities, real estate and real estate finance, estate planning and litigation. The firm represents all segments of the business community throughout the Southwest, ranging from large corporations and banks, to start-up ventures in emerging growth areas. |
