Nicholas P. Edgson



Nic focuses his practice on guiding clients through business controversies in and out of the courtroom. As a litigator, Nic helps clients navigate disputes in a wide variety of areas including commercial litigation, contract interpretation and enforcement, personal and professional liability, real estate and landlord/tenant issues, business divorce, international law, and sports and entertainment transactions.   

General Commercial Litigation. Nic has experience successfully resolving disputes for businesses and professionals regarding breach of contract claims, personal injury, wrongful death, landlord/tenant, and trust and estates. Through aggressive pre-trial practice, Nic has successfully negotiated six-and seven-figure settlements in his clients’ favor. Some of Nic’s recent ligation experience includes: 

  • Successfully representing individuals in wrongful death actions involving multi-million dollar damages claim. 
  • Successfully representing landlords and tenants to enforce lease agreements, including evicting tenants from commercial and residential properties when necessary.
  • Successfully representing individuals asserting defamation and libel claims against businesses and individuals.
  • Successfully representing and enforcing lenders’ rights under commercial loans, including collecting judgments against borrowers and guarantors through garnishment, attachment, foreclosure, and related proceedings. 

Contract Interpretation and Enforcement. Nic represents clients in interpreting, enforcing, and defending claims related to contractual agreements. He has experience enforcing rights and skillfully arguing claims regarding interpretation of contract provisions.   

Sports and Entertainment. Nic counsels athletes and coaches on issues involving contract negotiation, team and individual endorsements, tax and estate planning, public appearances, and the establishment of nonprofit foundations. Nic also has experience advising amateur athletes and university athletic advisors on issues of eligibility and compliance with NCAA regulations. Nic uses the skills and experience gained from playing college and professional football to his clients’ advantage.  

Commercial Landlord/Tenant Disputes. Nic helps resolve disputes between landlords and tenants regarding enforcement and negotiation of lease terms, and when necessary, he assists with lockouts. He litigates matters involving lease, purchase and sale agreements, title issues, liens, appraisals and other contract-related matters. Nic has experience renegotiating lease terms when individuals or businesses are adversely impacted by unreasonable actions by a landlord or tenant. 

Professional and Personal Liability. Nic helps defend claims against professionals including lawyers and accountants, directors and officers, architects and engineers, bankers, and real estate agents, brokers and appraisers.

Products Liability. Nic represents manufacturers, distributors and suppliers in disputes arising from allegations that a product did not meet agreed-upon specifications, is unreasonably dangerous, or caused harm. He has experience identifying applicable standards and terms to determine the scope of liability and damages.

Business Disputes. Nic intervenes when business owners fight with their partners or third parties. In disputes between business partners, Nic handles issues involving compensation, accounting, theft and control of the business. To resolve these disputes, Nic assists with judicial dissolution, appointment of receivers, buyouts, and related settlement arrangements.

International Law. Nic has helped clients resolve international disputes in Canada and Mexico. His experience includes product liability, employment disputes, breach of contract, and enforcement of foreign judgments. 

Background. Nic is originally from Vancouver, Canada. During law school, Nic was a summer law clerk for the Honorable Kent A. Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Upon graduating, he completed a Federal Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable Sherry R. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Before starting his legal career, Nic played college and professional football (CFL). Nic enjoys golfing throughout the valley and spending time outdoors with his wife and 3 young boys. He speaks Armenian fluently.
