Sheryl Sweeney joined Ryley Carlock & Applewhite in 1984. She
practices in the areas of water law, environmental law, electric utility
law and special taxing districts and is a member of the Firm's
Executive Committee. Sheryl is Chair of the Water, Energy, Resources
and Environment practice group at Ryley Carlock.
Barry Permut came to Ryley Carlock & Applewhite as a shareholder in
the Real Estate & Sustainable Development practice group following a
decades-long career at Isaacson Rosenbaum P.C. He most recently served
as a member of the Executive Committee there. Barry's practice
encompasses all aspects of real estate development, ownership,
construction and financing. He has served as the principal legal
counsel for numerous commercial real estate developers, residential real
estate developers, construction lenders, land developers and
homebuilders. Barry has represented construction lenders in major office and retail
developments and represented buyers of portfolio properties in the
structuring and re-structuring of
Jim practices in the areas environmental law, water resources
development, public lands, and public policy and government affairs.
Jim is a past chair of the firm's Water, Energy, Resources and
Environment Practice Group. He currently chairs the firm's Compensation
Committee.
Mike has been with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite since 1986 and heads
up the Phoenix office's banking and finance practice, which was recently
recognized in U.S. News & World Report's inaugural "Best Law Firms"
rankings as a "Tier 1" (top tier) practice in the Phoenix market. He
represents banks and life insurance companies (and occasionally
borrowers) in real estate, commercial and agricultural loan
transactions, loan workouts, loan enforcement, including trustee's
sales, judicial foreclosures and receiverships, deeds in lieu of
foreclosure and resales of collateral following foreclosure. His
experience has included many redevelopment projects, master planned communities, residential subdivisions (including homebuilder borrowing

University in 1983, Fredric Bellamy has 25 years' experience in civil
litigation and alternative dispute resolution, focusing on complex
"bet-the-company" high-stakes cases relating to many of the most
difficult issues facing businesses in the West. His experience includes
high-stakes litigation on behalf of major financial institutions and
banks, including lender liability, financial, securities fraud and
racketeering matters, international mining companies, major retailers
and manufacturers, and technology companies. Experience with financial institutions includes:

Nate practices extensively in the area of labor and employment law. He
practiced with the law firm of Evans, Kitchel & Jenckes, Phoenix,
Arizona (1976-1989) prior to joining Ryley Carlock & Applewhite in
1989.
Mike has been an attorney with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite since
graduating from law school in 1983, and has been a shareholder with the
firm since 1989. He was formerly the Chairman of the firm’s Executive
Committee, and served as head of its Labor and Employment Practice.
Jim has been an attorney with Ryley Carlock & Applewhite since 1974.
His practice focuses on securities, business transactions and employee
benefits law, and includes regulatory representation before the Arizona
Securities Division of the Arizona Corporation Commission, the Arizona
Department of Financial Institutions, and the Arizona Department of
Insurance. He has also lectured at numerous continuing legal education
programs for the Arizona State Bar.
Lonny brings significant broad-based experience to the Real Estate
practice area of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, joining the firm as a
shareholder in 2011. He has substantial experience in all aspects of
real estate acquisition, development, ownership, construction and
financing.
Brian represents a diverse client base of commercial, industrial,
municipal, and agricultural water users throughout Colorado. Since he
began practicing law in 1987, Brian's practice has focused on water
rights, including the adjudication of surface and underground water
rights, and the development and adjudication of plans for augmentation,
water rights transfers, and exchange cases. With his acknowledged
expertise, he has evaluated, drafted, and testified about proposed
legislation before the Colorado Legislature. He has handled substantial
litigation involving both trial and appellate matters before the
Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado
water courts, and the Colorado State Engineer.
